A manual transmission was once a standard feature in vehicles before automatic transmissions surfaced. However, now it has become a dying breed. With many manufacturers not making these transmissions any longer, it has almost become a thing of the past. A few still keep it around but are primarily associated with sports cars. However, even with sports cars, it is slowly being phased out as more and more people do not even know how to drive one.
There are many benefits to manual transmissions and downsides too. Also known as a stick shift, there are plenty of ways to drive a manual. For example, shifting into low gear has its place, and there is the best way to launch a manual transmission. While these transmissions have almost become a thing of the past, there are still manufacturers who stick to the old ways and keep the it alive today as an option.
