The Volkswagen Jetta is a model produced by the Volkswagen Group. The Jetta is sized and priced below the now discontinued Volkswagen Passat midsized sedan and the Volkswagen Arteon luxury liftback/shooting brake. Additionally, the Jetta is positioned as a sedan alternative to the Volkswagen Golf compact hatchback model and lineup.
First introduced to the world at the 1979 Frankfurt Auto Show, the Volkswagen Jetta has been offered in various builds and sizes over the years, including two-door and four-door models and as a station wagon. Additionally, the Jetta is sold under multiple nameplates in international markets, including as the Atlantic, Bora, Clasico, Sagitar, and Vento.
Currently in its seventh generation as a compact sedan, the Volkswagen Jetta remains a popular and affordable sedan option and is also available as the Jetta GLI performance sedan model, as a mirror of the Golf GTI. Some of its many rivals in the automotive market include the Kia Forte, the Honda Civic, the Hyundai Elantra, the Mazda3, and the Toyota Corolla.
