35-year-old man is behind bars after trying to hide cocaine in a squad car
There are many reasons a driver could be subjected to a traffic stop. It could be due to a road violation, or the police could stop a vehicle due to a safety checkpoint. The latter of the two happened recently in Kentucky when the police pulled over a driver. However, the police found drugs in the vehicle, and things got progressively worse when the driver was in the squad car.
This traffic stop should serve as a cautionary tale
Being subjected to a traffic stop is decently common for drivers. According to WSB-TV 2, Kentucky State Patrol officers recently conducted safety checkpoints in Laurel County. One of the vehicles they pulled over was a gray Nissan Frontier, which was driven by Jacques Donta March, 35. However, things took a turn when the officers caught the odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle.
Of course, police officers noticing drugs during a traffic stop means things are going to escalate. Naturally, they searched the vehicle and then found a bag of cocaine. They put him in handcuffs and then placed the driver into the squad car. What the officers didn’t know was that he had more cocaine on his person. They later found him trying to “destroy” the cocaine while in the back of the police car. It’s unclear how he planned to do this.
The traffic stop ended with Jacques being taken to the Laurel County Correctional Center. He is being charged with trafficking cocaine, tampering with physical evidence, possession of marijuana, and operating a vehicle with an expired operator’s license.
