Gun jugging victim in Texas fires shots as thieves follow his car

Police officers in Houston, Texas, are investigating the aftermath of a gun jugging attempt gone wrong. The term gun jugging refers to incidents where criminals stake out gun stores, ranges, or pawn shops to spot people buying guns or ammo.

Then they follow those individuals to secondary locations to steal their guns. A man recently left a gun range when he noticed men following his car in traffic. They followed him to his apartment.

According to Click 2 Houston, the suspects approached his vehicle and tried to rob him. They went for a bag containing guns, but the victim was armed with two pistols. This led to a shootout with multiple firearms.

The victim shot one of the suspects through the chin, prompting an emergency response. The man is expected to survive. But the other two suspects fled from their car when officers arrived on the scene.

There is an ongoing investigation into the incident. The two other suspects remain at large as investigators work to determine the sequence of events.

Police officers warn that this type of crime is growing increasingly popular in the area. Thieves are watching people as they leave high-value locations and following them.

Pay attention to your surroundings. Drivers should call 911 if they believe they’re being followed and head to the closest police station.
