Being responsible for a hit-and-run accident is one of the worst things a driver can do. All car wrecks are devastating, but leaving the scene of the crime is unimaginable. This happened recently in Virginia, and the suspect evaded his police traffic stop by hiding and crawling through storm drains. Now, the police are still on the lookout for the man who caused the crash.

Causing a hit-and-run accident and evading a traffic stop will have serious consequences

According to WJLA, police officers in Fairfax County, Virginia, responded to a car wreck on January 6th at around 2:40 pm. Once they got there, the officers instructed the drivers to move their vehicles to the side of the road. However, one of the drivers, Victor A. Caneza, 38, refused to do so and sped away from the crash site. Naturally, this promoted a police chase as they tried to conduct a traffic stop. Of course, this also made the first collision a hit-and-run accident.

The police officers continued trying to make the traffic stop. However, Victor soon abandoned the car he had been driving. Instead of trying to flee on foot, the hit-and-run accident suspect went into the sewer as a way to evade the police. The story says the police were somehow able to see the man crawling through the drain pipe, which promoted them to have officers stationed at various drain covers.

Time passed, and the man responsible for the hit-and-run accident was still below ground. Three hours later, the police noticed another drain that they hadn’t been monitoring. Additionally, onlookers told them they had seen a man exit it, which means Victor had gotten away. Now, he’s wanted for felony hit-and-run and eluding.
