Being on the road is more dangerous than most people assume. This is the case for many reasons, including the fact that several on the road decide that driving under the influence is a sound idea. Recently, one man in Iowa drove drunk and ended up causing multiple car wrecks and thousands in damage. Now, he has a DUI charge.

Driving under the influence causes more problems than a DUI charge

According to NWest Iowa, police were called to the Grand Falls Casino & Golf Resort in Larchwood, Iowa, at around 1 am on January 26th. The call was over an erratic driver that they believed to have been driving while under the influence. Once on the scene, the police officers noticed tire marks, which they then tracked to a nearby residence. The officers located the male driver and detained him as they began an investigation.

From there, the police learned that the driver had caused car wrecks with multiple parked vehicles at the casino. This includes a GMC Sierra, Ford Explorer, Lexus NX300, and a tour bus. In total, the cars are said to have sustained over $7k in damage from the man believed to have been driving under the influence.

The police arrested the 32-year-old man, and he now has a second offense DUI charge. They also cited him for reckless driving and leaving the scene of a crime. Of course, the man driving while under the influence could have also caused bodily harm to others on the road. Luckily, that didn’t happen.
