Missouri man has pleaded guilty to defrauding multiple car insurance providers of over $100k
There are multiple aspects of driving that most people never want to deal with. Insurance providers are one, and car wrecks are another. However, one Missouri man has now pleaded guilty to fraud by staging car accidents and defrauding multiple companies of more than $100k.
Not only did this driver stage car wrecks, but he did it several times
Insurance providers serve an essential purpose for car owners. Yes, what they offer is required in most states, but it comes in handy in the event of car wrecks. Naturally, defrauding these companies is extremely illegal. According to First Alert 4, this is what Adrian Peebles, 31, did over multiple years. Specifically, he entered a guilty plea for defrauding insurers between September of 2021 and January of 2023.
Basically, he has admitted to staging multiple car wrecks during this time. According to reports, these crashes were typically at night and in remote locations. In his encounters with police, he would also fake injuries. Additionally, Adrian told medical professionals that he had “non-determinative pain that required expensive tests that never identified any particular injury.” Of course, this was a way to make the hospital visits as expensive as possible.
Naturally, Adrian got multiple paydays from these car insurance providers. Apparently, he would insist they make the payments to him instead of the hospitals he went to after the staged car wrecks. However, he never paid the hospital bills after receiving the insurance checks. During his scam, Adrian defrauded two companies out of a combined $107,951. The man will be sentenced on April 17th. Of course, fraud is horrible in itself, but this will frustrate many people with valid insurance claims who have been left waiting for a settlement.
