32-year-old woman has a $102k bond after a traffic stop uncovered illegal drugs in a purse
Drivers get pulled over for traffic stops every day. Sometimes, these encounters are often routine, but they can also happen because the police notice violations with the vehicle or the way the person is driving. Recently, police in Alabama pulled a woman over for a traffic stop and ended up finding one of the most dangerous drugs on the illegal market in her purse. Now, she’s behind bars with a massive bond.
This traffic stop ended with the woman in handcuffs and a bond of over $100,000
According to WHNT 19 News, police in Huntsville noticed a vehicle with expired car tags on December 29th shortly before 8 pm. Because of the infraction, the officer pulled the car over for a traffic stop. Naturally, the encounter began with the officer gathering identifying information from the driver, Brittney Sapphira Branford, 32. This typically includes a driver’s license, proof of insurance, and registration.
It’s unclear why things escalated during the traffic stop, but the report says that the officers on the scene searched the vehicle after gaining consent from the driver. During the search, they found an unspecified amount of fentanyl in her purse, which was inside the car. Of course, fentanyl is a massive problem in communities around the country, which means getting it off the street is paramount.
Following the traffic stop, the police arrested the woman and took her to the Madison County Jail. They are charging her with drug trafficking and possession of a controlled substance. Her bond came out to be $102,500. Based on the charges and the hefty bond, she must have had a large amount of fentanyl.
