Kentucky residents are shocked after 2 semi-trucks crashed in Louisville in the same weekend
The residents of Louisville, Kentucky, were recently left shocked after a massive truck driving crash left a driver fearing for their life. Luckily, the latest reports say things are mostly back to normal following the semi-truck crash. This shows how quickly things can change when behind the wheel of vehicles of any size. Notably, this is the second crash in Kentucky involving an 18-wheeler in the span of two days.
Truck driving is a vital profession, but it can also be dangerous
According to WDRB, the semi-truck driving accident happened on May 4th at around 9:50 a.m. on the Kennedy Bridge. The vehicle was traveling south when the driver lost control and crashed into the bridge’s railing. It’s unclear why the person lost control, but the truck’s cab dangled from the bridge. Of course, the driver was inside the truck, potentially assuming the worst. This was in downtown Louisville.
Emergency crews soon rescued the person following the truck driving incident. Specifically, firefighters did so by extending a rope to bring the driver down. They reported that the person was fully alert and responsive after getting down from the bridge and had no injuries. Following the incident, authorities closed all lanes on the I-64 east ramp near the Kennedy Bridge.
As mentioned, it’s unclear what caused the truck driving incident. It’s not currently assumed that the driver was under the influence of any substances, which means it was likely an accident that could happen to the best of drivers. It’s important to note that this was the second semi-truck crash in the area in two days. Notably, a car hauler overturned on May 3rd, causing significant traffic delays right before the Kentucky Derby. This happened as the vehicles on the truck fell off and littered the road. The police are investigating the accident.
