Recent Texas police chase saw 3 people arrested after an intense standoff involving guns and the SWAT team
Police conduct traffic stops all the time. They can be routine, or they can come after they notice a driver committing a road violation. Recently, Texas police officers tried to pull over a car theft suspect for a traffic stop, but the driver led them on a chase that ended in a standoff. The ordeal lasted for hours. Now, there are three people behind bars.
They evaded a traffic stop and had a long standoff with the police
According to ABC 13, police officers in the Houston, Texas, area noticed a car theft suspect driving while on patrol. They tried to conduct a traffic stop on the driver, but they refused to pull over for the officer. Of course, this led to a short police chase where the driver put everyone else on the road at risk. Eventually, the police on the scene used a PIT maneuver in order to stop the vehicle.
Sadly, the PIT maneuver couldn’t get the driver to adhere to the traffic stop. This is because the driver then barricaded himself and a woman in the car. The situation worsened because he also told the police officers that he had several guns in the car, which created a dangerous situation for everyone. The diver also refused to allow the woman to exit the vehicle.
The police officers then called SWAT to the traffic stop in order to move things along. Someone from the scene said, “At some point, the driver alerted us to a small amount of explosives in the vehicle, obviously causing a lot of concern. Our SWAT team responded, and we were able to get the male to throw out several guns from his vehicle before ultimately surrendering to SWAT without any incident.”
In the end, the police learned that a second woman was also in the car. They were all arrested and are currently in custody. The charges have not been released at the time of writing.
