There is still quite a bit of talk about the Cybertruck. Much of it has to do with its dwindling sales, but people are also talking about the Tesla full self-driving in the pickup. Recently, one man took to an automotive forum and detailed how he narrowly missed crashing into another vehicle after he relied too heavily on the Cybertruck‘s self-driving capabilities. Now, he seems to have learned his lesson. 

Many people swear by the full self-driving in the Tesla pickup

Tesla full self-driving is one of the biggest advantages of the company’s pickup. For many, it offers a convenience that few other vehicles can. However, according to Torque News, one Cybertruck owner says he experienced what he calls a malfunction with the software that could have caused a car accident and potentially even ended his life. 

He said in a forum about his experience with the Tesla pickup, “FSD failed big time. I almost died. No amount of manual intervention could have prevented it. Good thing the other driver swerved. FSD is fatally flawed.” The man went on to say that he was driving and using the technology when it malfunctioned and couldn’t detect a red Toyota in front of it. Of course, this also means the Cybertruck failed to yield and almost crashed.

Of course, the Tesla pickup owner posted an accompanying video of the encounter, which you can see here. From the looks of things, he was merging onto a road, and there was a red Toyota truck with the right of way going at what appeared to be a standard rate of speed. Readers should note that many on the internet are calling out the Cybertruck owner for relying on the Tesla full-self-driving technology because it’s only at level 2 autonomy and not level 5. The truck would need level 5 to have full-on self-driving abilities. This means drivers must still be alert and prepared to take over the vehicle.
