RAM recalls pickup trucks over crash-causing brake issues
RAM pickup drivers might want to pay special attention to a recent recall notice. According to the new NHTSA recall, 100% of the pickup trucks named in the notice may have a warning light malfunction that could increase the risk of a dangerous crash.
RAM 2500, 3500, 4500, and 5500 pickup trucks recalled for brake system warnings, ‘which may cause a vehicle crash’
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration recently released recall No. 25V530, which names 2,885 RAM pickup truck models. According to the recall, the issue impacts MY 2026 trucks, most of which are 2500 models.
The most popular truck in the brand’s lineup, the 1500, isn’t anywhere to be found in the recall notice. While that’s good news for many truck owners, this issue could prevent drivers from diagnosing dangerous brake faults.
According to the notice, “Some 2026 MY Ram 2500 vehicles may have been built with the incorrect 3.5 inch IPC which displays the ISO symbol brake system warning light instead of ‘BRAKE’ light.”
It then adds, “Vehicles built with IPCs that display the incorrect brake system warning light may cause a customer to not understand that a brake system problem potentially exists, which may cause a vehicle crash without prior warning.”
So, what’s the fix? In short, RAM will replace the faulty unit at no cost to owners. If you suspect that your truck is involved in this recall, you can verify it with the NHTSA’s VIN lookup tool or await the owner notifications to go out on September 25, 2025.
