Colorado police officers watch a stolen car fly through the air
Police officers in Aurora, Colorado, weren’t expecting to see a stolen car go airborne. But things escalated quickly after the vehicle was located thanks to a Flock camera alert.
Officers followed the vehicle in an unmarked police car before eventually hitting the lights and sirens. They tried to initiate a traffic stop, but the driver refused to pull over.
According to CBS News, one of the passengers in the rear seat leaned out of the white vehicle and pointed a gun at the officers. Luckily, no shots were fired.
During the high-speed chase, the stolen car hit a median and briefly became airborne. It flew a few feet through the air before sustaining a rough crash landing. This caused the car to become disabled.
But the suspects didn’t give up. Three suspects fled from the vehicles, running through backyards in a nearby neighborhood. But officers caught the men identified as 18-year-old Angele Munguia, 18-year-old Watti Heng, and a 17-year-old juvenile.
Munguia faces charges of felony menacing, obstructing a peace officer, violation of a protection order, and motor vehicle trespass. Heng faces charges of motor vehicle theft and obstructing a peace officer.
It’s unclear if the stolen vehicle will be returned to its owner. It could have been totaled due to accidentally taking flight.
