If your Nissan SUV is built in Mexico then your order just got canceled
You might want to consider getting a type of Nissan SUV that’s built in Tennessee instead of Mexico. This is because Nissan just canceled orders for SUVs built in Mexico as new tariffs spring into action.
Your Nissan SUV order may have been canceled
Only one Nissan SUV might truly benefit from Trump tariffs and it’s the Nissan Rogue. Orders for some SUVs, like the ones manufactured in Mexico, just got canceled.
According to Transportation News, Nissan Motor Co. Decided to halt all orders of Mexican-made SUVs in the United States market. These SUVs are the Infiniti QX50 and QX55.
Yes, Infiniti is owned by Nissan. It’s their luxury division. Basically, the Infiniti QX50 is the luxury version of the Nissan Rogue. So if your order for a new QX50 just got canceled, you can save with a Rogue instead.
The Rogue is built in Smyrna, Tennessee and Nissan made this decision in response to Trump’s 25% tariffs on imported cars.
It’s also a strategic decision in the attempt to restructure among uncertainty after plans to merge with Honda fell apart. The automaker was struggling before tariffs were thrown into the mix.
Drivers can expect to see steep discounts as Nissan reviews production and supply chain operations to identify solutions for efficiency and sustainability.
Sales have been rapidly declining across the board, but remain positive. Dealerships have plenty of inventory available in the United States that is unaffected by the tariffs.
However, pressure seems to be hitting one Nissan SUV in particular. The Nissan Rogue has a lot of eggs in its basket right now.
