What began with the theft of two luxury vehicles ended with a pursuit in Miami Beach. It also resulted in one of the vehicles, a 2024 Ferrari Purosangue, crashing into a police cruiser and a light pole, causing a brief blackout.

Naturally, because this is 2025, the crash of the Ferrari Purosangue and subsequent explosion when the transformer blew were caught on surveillance video. It also helped that a Local 10 News crew was in the area when it happened.

“I was sitting there, and all of my lights turned super bright, and then everything just shut off, and I was like, either we got struck by lightning – but it’s not raining, so that wouldn’t make sense – or someone hit a power line,“ Brickell resident Robert Brand said. ”And then obviously, I walked out onto my balcony, looked down, and there’s a car hitting the power lines.”

Miami Beach police said they tried to pull over the driver of the stolen Ferrari Purosangue after spotting it. Instead, he tried to flee, but ended up crashing a police cruiser before smashing into a utility pole, snapping it in half.

‘It’s like you see [Grand Theft Auto] in real life,’ said a witness

The driver, who is from the Bronx in New York, was found a block away from the scene. He was taken to a local hospital for treatment of a minor cut. He was also charged with grand theft of a vehicle, fleeing and eluding police, leaving the scene of a crash involving property damage, and reckless driving with damage to property or person.

“Like, I’m wondering how he was able to come out. Like, it looks like he’s kind of Houdini or someone. I don’t know,” another witness to the crash, Andre Lermakov, told WSVN News.

A 2025 Rolls-Royce Cullinan that was also stolen was recovered in Miami-Dade County, NBC Miami News reported. The cars were reported stolen after a third-party transportation company failed to deliver them to a business to get wrapped. The business owner then contacted the vehicles’ owner, who reached out to the police.
