Drivers in Indiana have car trouble after getting bad gas from a Phillips 66 in Vigo County
Drivers can typically use the pumps at gas stations without fear of damaging their vehicles. However, there are some unfortunate situations where people get gas that has water in it or that is somehow incorrect or flawed. This happened recently in Indiana, and now several drivers need expensive repairs from auto mechanics.
Gas station pumps aren’t always on the up and up, and this can lead to expensive repairs
According to My Wabash Valley, some Vigo County, IN, residents may have significant car trouble after using the gas pumps at a Phillips 66 station. This comes as a Weights and Measures department representative came across a post on social media. It was from a person who had gone to the station and filled up with gas that had water in it. To confirm, they sent someone from the department to test the fuel pumps. Luckily for residents, they acted quickly. The representative saw the post at 2:15. After conducting the necessary tests, the pumps were shut down by 2:45 p.m. This happened on April 7th.
Regarding the response to the issue with the gas station pumps, the representative said, “The owners were very supportive. They still have the convenience store open and are able to sell diesel fuel. They are hiring a service to come in and clean the tanks. We will check again after they are cleaned to ensure they are safe to use.”
Notably, the pumps at the gas station remained out of service as of April 8th. Reports also say the gas station’s phone lines were down for a while. Of course, it’s unclear how the water found its way into the gas, but this isn’t the first station to experience this. Also, the gas station isn’t typically to blame in these cases, as contamination often happens during delivery.
