Running out of gas isn’t a pleasant experience. Still, the worst part of running out of fuel may not be related to being stranded. Instead, the biggest issue might be the damage that it can cause to a vehicle. Of course, auto mechanics know how bad this is. Recently, one demonstrated what happens to your car when there’s not enough gas in the tank, and it’s pretty eye-opening. 

Auto mechanics know how bad driving on E is

Auto mechanics have always warned car owners about the dangers of driving with a vehicle’s gas tank nearly empty. However, this is a practice that many drivers continue for various reasons. For some, it could be due to budgetary restrictions. However, many drivers will be honest and say it’s either laziness or simply being pressed for time. 

Recently, a TikTok user named Alex the Car Doctor joined the fray of auto mechanics and expressed the importance of having enough fuel. However, he did so with a full-on demonstration. He begins the video by saying, “This is what your gas tank looks like when you’re running around on E.” He then says that he has added about two gallons of gas. The mechanic goes on to show how much a vehicle’s components struggle when there isn’t enough fuel. 

As the video progresses, he simulates what happens when vehicles stop and go with too little fuel. He also talks about air bubbles and excessive heating and how these things damage fuel pumps. As other auto mechanics will say, the cost of replacing a fuel pump is much more than the price of gas.
