It was revealed this week that Fiat plans to import its itty-bitty Topolino electric vehicle to the United States in 2026. It has a top speed of 28 mph and a reported range of 47 miles.

“I’m happy to share that we’ll be bringing the Fiat Topolino to the U.S., with more details to come next year,” Fiat CEO Olivier Francois said this week during Art Week in Miami.

The Fiat Topolino, which is actually a rebadged version of the Citroen Ami, costs around $11,500 (€9,890) in Italy. It’s only 95 inches long, 60 inches high, and 55 inches wide, but it did win the “Best New Design 2024” in the Minicars category at the Autonis Awards, so it’s got that going for it.

Remember when a Citroen Ami went viral for flipping at the Formula 1 Monaco Grand Prix? Good times.

According to Fiat, “The name ‘Topolino,’ which translates to ‘little mouse’ in Italian, pays homage to the original Fiat 500 Topolino, a popular model from 1936 to 1955. Known for its small size and Italian charm, the original Topolino gained an affectionate following worldwide.”

Which is better? A Fiat Topolino or a tricked-out golf cart?

A Fiat Topolino can seat three uncomfortably and comes with doors, windows, a Bluetooth speaker, and a smartphone dock. There is a second version called the Dolcevita that doesn’t have doors, but does come with a sunroof.

Under the hood is an eight-horsepower motor and a 5.5 kWh lithium-ion battery pack. It can be recharged in four hours using a standard household 110V outlet.

The average golf cart top speed is 12 to 15 mph when used on a course. Some golf carts, built for street use, can reach up to 30 mph. Electric golf carts have a range of up to 40 miles. Gas golf carts can go up to 120 miles before needing a refill.

A good electric golf cart will run you between $6,000 and $8,000. A four-seater will usually cost between $8,000 and $10,000. Street legal versions range from $10,000 to $12,000.

So, which one is better? It essentially comes down to personal choice. That being said, how much do you want to bet someone will try to bring a Fiat Topolino onto a golf course at some point in 2026?
