Former Miami Dolphins quarterback Jay Cutler made quite the name for himself during his NFL career. After returning from professional football, he, like many athletes, pursued a career in broadcasting. However, police recently arrested him in Tennessee for allegedly driving under the influence and gun possession. Notably, the report says he tried to bribe the other driver involved in a related accident. See the full story below.
According to CBS News, someone called police officers about a crash involving two vehicles around 5 p.m. on October 17th, with Jay Cutler driving one of the automobiles. After conducting an investigation, the police on the scene were able to determine that Cutler rear-ended the other vehicle.
However, they are said to have also detected the odor of alcohol coming from the retired NFL quarterback, leading the police to suspect him of driving under the influence. After bringing this to his attention, Jay is said to have refused to undergo field sobriety testing. Notably, Cutler had two guns with him, one of which was a loaded pistol. The police officers then obtained a warrant and had his blood tested at a local hospital.
After determining that Jay was indeed driving under the influence of alcohol, the police booked him into the Williamson County Jail. He had a $5,000 bond and got out of jail the same day. It’s also important to note that it has been confirmed that he tried to bribe the other driver with $2,000 not to report the collision.
The report doesn’t list any physical injuries to either party involved in the collision. This is a developing story.
