Winter Storm Blair is impacting people in several parts of the country. However, many still have to show up to work, and driving in the snow isn’t always safe. Additionally, some people have vehicles much less suited for slippery surfaces than others. This is where some Jeep owners are coming in handy as they’re lending their off-road friendly vehicles to the cause.

Jeep vehicles are unusually better at driving in the snow than some other models

Jeep vehicles serve quite a few purposes that many other options don’t. They are solid off-road SUVs and trucks and can make driving in the snow more manageable and safer. Because of this, local Jeep organizations nationwide are lending their services to people impacted by Winter Storm Blair. According to 14 News, the Evansville Area Jeepers are doing this for those who can’t drive to work in Indiana by offering rides.

Of course, not all Jeep vehicles can drive in the snow. However, the ones this group uses have modifications that work for more extreme use. One member of the Evansville Area Jeepers said, “There’s several of us that have built up for off-road use. Most of us have recovery gear with us, so if we did get stuck, we can get ourselves out.”

He continued, “It’s something that we’ve done in a state of emergency, we offer rides. A lot of them have cars or lower sitting vehicles, and they know there’s no way they’re going to make it work.”

Of course, driving in the snow can be dangerous for all vehicles, including Jeep models. Because of this, people who can stay home in harsh weather conditions should. However, check out this recent article for tips on maintaining safety if you must drive in the snow.
