One of the sad truths of being on the road is that there are countless people who drive under the influence. This is despite the numerous fatal car wrecks that happen each year. One woman in California did this recently with her children in the car, and now they’ve sadly passed away as a result of an accident. Now, she’s facing a DUI charge and a host of others, coupled with the pain that comes from the loss of two children.

Not only did the woman decide to drive while under the influence, but she caused a deadly car wreck

According to KRON 4, California Highway Patrol officers were called on March 16th regarding a car wreck. This was on the Highway 29 offramp near Imola Avenue at around 9:30 am. Once on the scene, the officers found a 2006 Nissan sedan that had collided with a tree. Notably, the tree was about 30 feet below an embankment. There was a woman, Yesica Barajas, driving. At the time of arriving on the scene, the police had no reason to believe she had decided to drive under the influence. However, it was later determined that this may have been a factor.

The story of the woman who may have decided to drive under the influence becomes even more emotional. Sadly, she had two children in the vehicle, one 10-year-old boy and a 9-year-old girl. Regarding the driver, authorities took her to the hospital for treatment for significant injuries. As of March 18th, the woman is still recovering. Still, she will face arrest and charges.

It’s unclear what changes the driver will face for having decided to drive while under the influence and causing a deadly wreck. However, it’s reasonable to assume that one will be a DUI charge. This is a tragic story and a staunch reminder that it’s never okay to drive under the influence.
