Confused motorist jumps out of his car to rescue a toddler running in the middle of a busy street [Video]
Unsurprisingly, drivers are without a doubt the deadliest part of every road. However, road and highway obstacles are also serious safety concerns for motorists on busy streets and highways. Gravity-defying deer, nonchalant cyclists, and debris can turn a drive into a disaster. Still, any of those unfortunate obstacles is preferable to an unattended child wandering through traffic. Fortunately, a driver stopped his car on a busy Virginia road to rescue a toddler in exactly such a case.
A Virginia father stopped his car on a busy road to rescue a toddler running around in traffic
Tre Waddy was driving to work on Parham Road in Henrico County, Virginia. That’s nothing out of the norm for Waddy or other drivers on the frequented road. However, Waddy’s morning turned into a wild, weird event when he came to the rescue of a toddler in the middle of the road.
According to CBS 6, Waddy noticed the young boy running along the northbound lanes of the road. “It was a real quick,” Waddy told an interviewer. The commuter claimed that he had to act quickly without regard for his own vehicle. “I don’t care if the door gets hit, I don’t care if the car gets hit,’ obviously. So I had to be quick about it.”
From the proud display of his Donut Media hoodie, Waddy likely cares about his vehicle. Well, he cares enough about it to equip it with a dash cam. I reviewed the Nextbase 622GW and concluded that a dash cam is a must-have for the modern driving landscape. And Waddy’s footage is a clear indication of the value of a good camera.
Fortunately, Waddy, a father himself, was keen to rescue the young toddler. Understandably, Waddy is angered by what could have been. “He was on Parham [Road]. Someone could’ve just driven away with him. I do think someone needs to be held responsible.” Hopefully, some good comes of the near-disaster. At least for now, one young boy is lucky to be alive.
