Multiple people are in the hospital after a crash involving a wrong-way driver in Cleveland, OH
Unfortunately, car wrecks happen every day. Some are worse than others, but what’s becoming more common is that they stem from wrong-way drivers. Although it is typically a mistake, driving on the wrong side of the road can be incredibly dangerous. This happened recently in Cleveland, OH, and now multiple people are in the hospital with injuries.
Car wrecks involving wrong-way drivers are on the rise, and law enforcement agencies around the country are finding ways to fight it
According to Fox 8, like many car wrecks, this one happened at a late hour. Specifically, it was around 1 a.m. on April 18th. The report states that a wrong-way driver on I-71 South crashed into an SUV traveling in the correct direction. Dash cam footage shows the SUV driver pressing the brakes to slow down, but it was too late to avoid a collision.
Following the car wreck, the victim was seen out of the vehicle and walking around before EMS arrived on the scene. Regarding the wrong-way driver, they had to be removed from the car by the fire department. This took about 15 minutes. Authorities have not released the names of the drivers. However, one was a 56-year-old woman, and the other was a 33-year-old man. They don’t know how long the person drove the wrong way, but there were multiple calls to report it.
As with many car wrecks, no charges have been filed at this time, but an investigation is ongoing. Both people went to the hospital with critical injuries. As wrong-way driving is so dangerous, people could call the police whenever they witness it in order to hopefully avoid situations like this or worse.
