Most people are accustomed to their vehicles being subjected to a car recall. However, this is less common when it comes to components such as tires. Still, one California-based company has issued a recall for many tires intended for driving in snow. Of course, weather conditions are a significant factor in car wrecks, so readers should check the rubber on their vehicles for optimal safety.

There’s a recall for tires, and your car could be impacted

Automakers can issue a car recall for all sorts of reasons. However, it’s also possible for companies that make specific vehicle components to take this necessary action. According to the NHTSA, Prinx Chengshan Tire North America Inc. is recalling more than 541,000 tires. This includes more than 100 sizes of Fortune Tormenta and Prinx Hicounty replacement tires. Specifically, these units are for driving in snow.

So, what prompted this recall for car tires? The report says that these units don’t have enough traction to be safe in snow, which is their intended purpose. Specifically, these recalled tires don’t fit the guidelines of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 139. Naturally, this issue poses a massive safety risk for anyone living in areas with snow who may have these tires. Sadly, they could increase the likelihood of car wrecks.

Of course, many are wondering how to respond to this recall for car tires. Impacted owners can expect official notification letters at the beginning of February. The report also says that the specific way the company will go about fixing the issue is yet to be determined. However, it’s reasonable to assume owners will get replacement car tires. People with questions can contact the company at 310-205-8355, extension 109.
