Honda Civic driver is shocked at his car being stolen twice by the same man in San Diego, CA
Car theft impacts drivers and communities all over the country. Sometimes, thieves target private owners, whereas they go after car showrooms in other instances. Recently, one California man experienced a weird occurrence: his Honda was stolen and returned twice. Of course, Honda vehicles are often targets, but this is still strange.
Most instances of car theft don’t see the vehicle being returned and then stolen again
According to Fox 5 San Diego, San Nguyen, who lives in San Diego, is the proud owner of a 2006 Honda Civic. Notably, this nameplate is one of the most popular Honda vehicles. However, the man realized on March 23rd that his fob wouldn’t unlock his vehicle. Besides this, he had no reason to believe he had become a victim of car theft. It wasn’t until later that he saw surveillance footage of someone getting into the Civic and driving off. The strange thing is that the unidentified man later returned it.
Things didn’t end there for the car theft victim. Later footage showed the same man returning and retaking the car. However, San can see him pointing a device at the car this time. This unlocked the doors, and he believed the device was a radio frequency jammer. Notably, this also disabled the alarm system. Later, the Honda Civic showed up again. San tried calling the police, but they said no crime had been committed since he had his car. Because of this, there is no active investigation.
Following the instances of car theft, San’s neighbor gave him a steering wheel lock. He issued a message to the thief, saying, “There’s more than one way to get a ride. You don’t need to steal it.” Luckily, there is no damage to the vehicle. San also says he returned it with a decent bit of gas in the tank, meaning it wasn’t driven very far. Still, this is pretty concerning as the car could be used to commit other crimes.
