When it comes to car maintenance, there’s quite a bit that drivers let fall by the wayside. This is the case, as most people think of things like engine oil changes as being all their vehicle needs. One piece of car maintenance that drivers often ignore is changing their windshield wipers, as many believe they last far longer than they do. Here’s how frequently you should change them.

How long do windshield wipers last for your car?

The problem with car maintenance is that it’s expensive. This is why if people think they can skip certain things, they will. Windshield wiper blades fall into this category, and it’s somewhat because people ignore the warning signs that they need to be replaced. So, how long do they last? The simple answer is that drivers can typically expect windshield wiper blades to last between six and 12 months.

Naturally, different types of windshield wiper blades can have varying life spans. Additionally, aspects such as weather conditions and frequency of use can be significant factors. Regarding type, lower-end blades may only last between four and six months. Oftentimes, these are prices below $20.

Those who don’t want to think about this type of car maintenance for a while should consider reinforced all-season options, which can last for a couple of years. However, most midrange options, as mentioned last, last around 12 months at most. According to Kelley Blue Book, most options cost between $50 and $60, but there are also quality options for less.

Of course, people who need to do this type of car maintenance have several options for brands. Many drivers say that the Rain-X Latitude Water Repellency blades are among the best. Additionally, they come at a reasonably low price. Most stores offer them for under $30 before taxes, and they currently have a 4.4 rating out of five on Amazon, which is pretty stellar.

People who need to do car maintenance on their wiper blades should also consider Bosch Icon. There are multiple options, with some being more costly than others. However, drivers swear by this brand. The Bosch Icon Premium Beam currently has a 4.6 rating on Amazon, which shows that many would suggest it for keeping your windshield clean.

Those looking for a more affordable option without sacrificing quality should consider the Trico Flex blade. Drivers can find them for under $15, and they have a 4.4 rating on Amazon. Still, most options on the market will get the job done. Still, drivers should remember that they’ll have to replace cheaper blades sooner than more expensive ones.
