Unfortunately, car wrecks are fairly common on the road. They don’t always lead to a ton of destruction, but they can sometimes be fatal. This happened recently after a California man robbed a store, evaded a traffic stop, and then caused a serious car crash that took someone’s life. Now, he’s behind bars and facing severe charges.

Car wrecks often happen when people decide to evade their traffic stop

According to NBC 4 Los Angeles, the police in La Palma, California, were called after a man robbed an Albertsons grocery store. However, he had left the store before they could arrive. This caused them to seek out the vehicle he was driving to make a traffic stop. Sadly, the police later received word of a multi-vehicle car accident that took the life of a woman in her 60s who was driving a BMW. The robbery suspect was the driver in that accident.

The report says the driver struck another vehicle as he attempted to avoid the police traffic stop. Unfortunately, he continued to lead police on the high-speed chase in order to avoid the consequences. After a while, the police officers were able to make contact with the driver, Anthony Hanzal, 43. Of course, they placed him in handcuffs on the scene. However, they first took him to the hospital for evaluation due to the multiple car wrecks.

Naturally, the man is facing some pretty serious charges. They include petty theft, hit-and-run, and felony eluding. However, the investigation is ongoing. There could be more charges, especially considering that one of the hit-and-run victims lost their life.
