Most people looking for the best cars to buy do so at dealerships. This is despite the rise of shopping online for vehicles. However, some dealers have practices that go against the best interests of buyers. Some are less nefarious than others, but people should know what to look for. Luckily, a car-buying expert recently took to his social media to detail what people should avoid when going to dealerships. Sadly, a bad dealership can get in the way of a great car.

People looking for the best cars to buy should avoid these types of dealerships

Finding the best cars to buy has become easier than ever. However, car dealerships can sometimes hinder the process. Luckily, many great dealers around the world care about their customers and their experiences. According to Daily Dot, Billy the Car Kid (@billythecarkid) recently took to TikTok to share some advice with car buyers.

The first advice he gives to people looking for the best cars to buy is to avoid dealers that push add-ons. He says this includes things like lo-jacks, tinting, and wheel locks. According to him, “They try to grease in the final numbers and overcharge you with. I don’t think any dealership that does this is worth our time.”

Next, he tells potential car buyers to avoid dealers that don’t allow outside financing or checks. Specifically, he says these dealerships must have some agenda for why they don’t allow this. After all, people searching for a car should be able to pay for it in whatever legal way they choose.

Shopping at dealerships that prioritize transparency and are willing to provide pricing and negotiate over the phone greatly benefits consumers. This approach not only helps save money but also offers a wider range of options. It’s advisable to avoid dealerships that require in-person visits for assistance, as they may not prioritize customer convenience or satisfaction. #carbuyingtips #carbuyinghelp #carbuyingsecrets #carbuyer #dealership #negotiate #car #carbuyingadvice #bestdeal

The third advice for people shopping for the best cars to buy is to avoid places that claim to be haggle-free. He also includes those with one price for each vehicle. Naturally, this also means dealerships that refuse to negotiate are not to be trusted.

Billy then discusses car dealerships that only allow buyers to see prices at the dealership. This is instead of having them on their website or providing them over the phone or via email. He says these dealers often want to make sure buyers aren’t prepared with research when they hear the prices. Finally, he jokes that any dealership that gets upset at the mention of his name is probably shady.
