Popular mechanic lists 5 pickup trucks you should never buy
People looking for the best trucks to buy have several options. Many come from Toyota, and some are from the likes of Ram and Ford. However, some pickup trucks on the market are less reliable than others, which means people who own them may become quite familiar with auto mechanics in their area. Recently, one popular mechanic revealed five popular trucks you should never buy.
Even the best trucks to buy can have issues, but some models should be avoided altogether
Recently, a TikToker named Zach Trahan took to the platform to share five trucks that he and many other auto mechanics would never recommend. As mentioned, no vehicle is perfect, but some are more prone to mechanical issues than others. He began by saying, “Let’s start with an absolute banger, and the only thing that’s gonna be banging is the engine.” Of course, he’s talking about Ford trucks that use the 6.4-liter Power Stroke engine. He highlighted that Ford only made them for two years, but it’s still possible to find trucks that use them on the used market.
Many consider the Honda Ridgeline one of the best trucks to buy. However, this TikToker says drivers should never buy one, not because it is unreliable, but because it is “an embarrassing truck.” Next, he lists the Ford F-150 trucks that use the power boost engines. Ford introduced this lineup to the F-150 in 2021, and Zach notes that they have many reliability issues.
The next truck on the list is the 6.0-liter Power Stroke Ford F-250. Of course, these are much older trucks, so they aren’t as common today. Still, he says these engines are almost as bad as the 6.4-liter options he previously mentioned. The Ram 1500 is also on this list of trucks this mechanic doesn’t recommend. He says they are “decently reliable” but that owners will need to change the lifters. Still, many consider the Ram 1500 to be one of the best trucks to buy.
