The Ford F-150’s initial conception took place over decades ago, and the 2021 version demonstrates just how far the model has come. The redesigned full-size pickup truck is giving drivers a lot to be excited about. The optional 12-inch touchscreen, interior work surface, and Max Recline Seats are a few of the features consumers can look forward to with the 2021 Ford F-150. Not to mention, the exciting and powerful engine lineup. U.S. News named the new model as the No. 1 front-runner for full-size pickup trucks.

Ford’s newest generation of the F-150 has been getting a lot of positive attention, and rightfully so. As Ford put it, “The all-new F-150 is purpose-built from the ground up — redesigned to be the toughest, most productive F-150 ever.” Take a closer look at the competition and why Ram and Chevy might have a tough time competing.

What competition is the 2021 Ford F-150 up against?

It is clear that the 2021 Ford F-150 seems to be a fan favorite, but, nonetheless, the model is still up against some competition. The 2021 Ram 1500 is one of Ford’s F-150’s rivals. The smooth ride, quiet cabin, and impressive transmission system are just a few of the feathers in the new Ram 1500’s cap. The model’s reasonable MSRP is another perk of the 2021 Ram 1500. However, the embarrassing fuel economy matched with Consumer Reports‘ troubling Predicted Reliability score is enough to make any driver think twice.

The 2021 Chevy Silverado is another model that the 2021 Ford F-150 is up against. The 6.2-liter V8 powertrain and Multi-Flex tailgate option were just two of the many new features drivers were looking forward to. Unfortunately, similarly to the 2021 Ram 1500, the newest Chevrolet Silverado seems destined for failure.

With three recalls already issued for the new model, it makes sense that the 2021 Chevy Silverado would also have a very discouraging Predicted Reliability score on Consumer Reports. This concerning information is likely to turn drivers away from these options, but it isn’t the only reason the 2021 Ford F-150 has a leg up this year.

The 2021 Ford F-150’s impressive trim selections

Ford’s fans and enthusiasts might have been blown away when realizing just how many trim levels are available for the 2021 F-150. With a total of six different trim packages, the 2021 model is available in a variety of different styles. Drivers can choose from XL, XLT, Lariat, King Ranch, Platinum, and Limited when customizing their truck.

Using a visual aid, Car and Driver was able to break it down for consumers by price. In their professional opinion, Car and Driver shared that the Lariat trim gives drivers the best features for the best price. However, per usual, selecting the right trim will depend on the driver and situation at hand, and in the case of the 2021 Ford F-150, it is safe to say that they will definitely have plenty of options.

Beating out Chevrolet and Ram

In many ways, when shopping for a new pickup truck, the 2021 Ford F-150 definitely seems like the superior choice. However, this isn’t just for performance reasons. Thanks to Ford’s abundant trim options for the 2021 F-150, drivers will have a number of exterior paint choices. Drivers will have the choice of 17 colors to pick from and get to enjoy the perks of adding a little extra personal touch. When it comes to these versatile aesthetic options, Ram and Chevy can simply not complete.
