The Ford Bronco’s New Doors May Make It Safer Than a Wrangler

As Bronco demand continues to overwhelm supply, Ford fans and execs are getting into heated discussions with Jeep Wrangler fans. That’s understandable, given both are heritage-heavy off-road SUVs with removable roofs and doors. But it’s in the doors where the Ford Bronco may have the advantage over the Wrangler. Because, while the Jeep’s getting a …

The Pierce-Arrow Four is a $225,000 American Antique Motorcycle

It’s very possible to spend six figures on a motorcycle these days. Not just on a new bike, but on classic, vintage, and antique models, too. Especially when it comes to motorcycles that offered high-performance or cutting-edge technology in their day. And the 1911 Pierce-Arrow Four that recently sold for almost a quarter-million dollars has …

The Land Rover Defender Is Refined on and off the Road

They may be maintenance nightmares, but few vehicles combine off-road capability with luxuries like Land Rover’s crossovers and SUVs. That’s true even of the stylish—but expensive—Range Rover Evoque and Velar. However, it’s the newly-resurrected Land Rover Defender which arguably best captures the brand’s off-road spirit. But does it work as well on paved roads as …

What Do Oil Grades Really Mean for Your Engine?

Whether you own a car or a motorcycle, one of the most important maintenance items is changing your oil. Compared to replacing a clutch or a timing belt, changing your engine oil is relatively straight-forward. However, not only does modern motor oil come in many different varieties, there are a lot of oil grades available. …

The 2021 Hyundai Veloster N Has More Standard Performance

It’s not just the Genesis brand and the Telluride that are fueling Hyundai’s rise. The Korean automaker’s hot hatch, the Veloster N, can compete with segment leaders like the Volkswagen GTI. But to keep up with models like the Honda Civic Type R, it still needs a bit more performance. Luckily, for 2021, Hyundai is …

The Tatra T87 Is the Most Interesting Car You’ve Never Heard Of

For every icon like the Beetle, there are many more classic vehicles that languish in obscurity. Some nameplates, such as Ariel, Soriano, and even (at one point) Bugatti and Indian, manage to return. Tatra, though, is not one of them—at least not in the US. Which is a shame, because the 1930s Tatra T87 is …

Storyteller Overland Lets the Mercedes Sprinter Go Beast Mode

Vans are some of the most popular vehicles for overlanding builds. Each model, from the Mitsubishi Delica to the Ford Transit, has its strong following. As does the Mercedes Sprinter, the bigger brother of the Metris van. And if you want to take one off-pavement, you may want to consider Storyteller Overland’s Mercedes Sprinter Beast …

Does the Camaro ZL1 1LE Out-Muscle the Mercedes-AMG C63S?

No matter which side of the Atlantic you’re on, you’ll find muscle cars. And though the basic formula—big engine, relatively-small car—still works, the latest models put the classics to shame. Here in the US, the Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 1LE is arguably the best muscle car available right now. But how does it compare to one …

This Lexus LX470 Can Overland in Luxury

No one ever said overlanding or off-roading couldn’t be done in luxury. For one, quite a few owners have taken vehicles like the Audi Allroad and Porsche 924 rather far from paved roads. Not to mention, that’s the whole point behind luxury SUVs like the Range Rover. But for an overland-ready luxury SUV that won’t …

The Volkswagen Beetle RSI: An $80,000 Golf R32 Preview

The Golf name has adorned quite a few high-performance Volkswagens. And before the R, the fastest Golf was the all-wheel-drive R32. But before the hot hatch received its powertrain, another VW product tested it out first. Which led to one of the rarest, fastest, and priciest Volkswagen Beetles ever: the Beetle RSI. Volkswagen Beetle RSI …

The Chevrolet Cobalt SS: America’s Hot Hatch…Er, Coupe

Since the Ford Focus ST’s and Fiesta ST’s cancellation, American OEMs haven’t really offered a genuine hot hatch. However, even before those cars came out, Chevrolet was offering its own spin on the ‘sporty version of a regular car’ formula. The late-2000s HHR SS panel van is one such example. But arguably the closest thing …
A white-with-blue-striped-fairing 1982 Honda CBX 1000 Super Sport

The Honda CBX 1000 Was an 80s 6-Cylinder Superbike

While some early-20th-century motorcycles could handle triple-digit speeds, the first superbike coined as such was the 1969 Honda CB750. It wasn’t the first four-cylinder bike, or even the fastest bike at the time. However, it offered features never-before-seen on production bikes, let alone ones at that price point. But by the late 70s, it was …

Mercedes Is Cutting Cars to Make More SUVs and Crossovers

Sedans and coupes are being increasingly squeezed out of the market by SUVs and crossovers, not to mention trucks. Quite a few brands, including Ford and Chevrolet, have all but eliminated their passenger car lineups because of this. Mercedes is already planning to phase out a few of its AMG and large-engine sedans. But recent …

Which Used Audi Is the Most Reliable?

Quite a few German brands have a reputation for unreliability, especially when it comes to buying them used. A few are even described as maintenance nightmares. However, it’s perfectly possible to find reliable used BMWs and Mercedes-Benz models. And it’s just as possible to get a reliable used Audi. One of the most reliable, looking …

The Honda E Reveals Why Small Electric Cars Struggle in the US

Compared to just a few years ago, the number of electric vehicles out right now, or in development, has risen shockingly quickly. And few, outside perhaps Tesla’s lineup, have captured attention like the Honda E. Sadly, despite some early rumors, the Japanese automaker’s stylish new small electric car isn’t making it to the US. But …

The Panoz Esperante: When an American Race Car Company Makes a European Roadster

While 60s 2-seat convertible sports cars like the Sprite weren’t the pinnacle of performance, these roadsters were a lot of fun to drive. Enough that the formula lives on today, in cars like the Mazda Miata, Porsche 718 Boxster, and Fiat 124 Spider. And even though the Ferrari F50 was basically an F1 car for …

Will the US Get Peugeot’s E-Bikes Before Its Cars?

More and more vehicle manufacturers are getting into electric bicycles. Jeep’s partnered with one e-bike company. And for motorcycle brands Ducati and Triumph, it’s less than they’re offering bicycles so much as getting back into them. But there’s another brand, trying to return to the US, that’s also expanding its e-bike lineup: Peugeot. Peugeot’s newest …

The Jensen Interceptor: A Classic AWD European Muscle Car

America isn’t the only country to develop muscle cars. Various European manufacturers have also dipped their toes into the segment, both recently and in the past. Some of the classic muscle cars, such as the Allard J2, were so-called ‘hybrids,’ combining European bodies with American engines. And one of these, the Jensen Interceptor, wasn’t just …
A yellow 4-door 2021 Ford Bronco with a Go Fast Campers SuperLite rooftop tent

Go Fast Campers’ SuperLite Rooftop Tent Weighs Less Than You

If your overlander can’t accommodate a bed camper, one common alternative is a rooftop tent. The only problem is, whether you drive a Japanese van or an SUV, making sure you don’t overload the roof. Go Fast Campers is already known for making extremely light pickup truck bed campers. And now, the Montana-based company is …

Watch the Aging GT-R Beat the C8 Corvette and a 630-Hp AMG Sedan

The mid-engine C8 Chevy Corvette, even in standard form, is already proving it can punch significantly above its horsepower rating. And there’s another car which did the same when it first came out: the Nissan GT-R. Today, the GT-R isn’t exactly cutting-edge. But, as YouTube team Throttle House demonstrates, that doesn’t mean it can’t keep …
