[Video] Watch these skateboarders use a dented and damaged Tesla Cybertruck for tricks
Nothing on American roads looks quite like the Tesla Cybertruck. Its long, angular design language resembles something from a science fiction franchise. However, it also lends itself to other less-than-conventional things. Like a duo of skateboarders using a Cybertruck as a ramp while dozens of onlookers cheer them on.
Skateboarders damaged a Tesla Cybertruck in a session, but it wasn’t a protest stunt
Antonio Durao and Louie Lopez like to skate. You’ll often find them performing tricks on steps, rails, and stretches of asphalt. However, you can also find them smashing skateboard wheels into the wide, flat windshield of a Tesla Cybertruck.
The two performed tricks on the Cybertruck as part of Street League Skateboarding’s APEX 02 event. Lopez took the No. 3 in the event, and the Cybertruck owner took home some fresh damage on her huge EV.
I know what you’re thinking. This is yet another act of destruction targeting a Tesla to further an anti-Elon Musk sentiment. Surprisingly, it isn’t. In fact, the huge, angular Cybertruck belonged to the skate crew. It was a case of using a wild prop to make a video.
Of course, that didn’t stop commenters from making assumptions and airing their criticism. One viewer immediately responded, “They all should be arrested and charged with vandalism and destruction of private property.” Again, not a protest event. Fortunately, another viewer reminded him that “it’s their vehicle!”
Still, it’s understandable how some of the snap-judgement commenters got to their conclusions. CEO and DOGE head Elon Musk has stirred up quite the hornet’s nest with his public antics and slash-and-burn approach to government cost-cutting. As a result, protestors and vandals have started targeting Tesla’s EVs with pranks, defacings, and even arson.
However, the Antonio Durao and Louie Lopez skate session was far from an act of destructive protest. It was a couple of athletes using a big, flat truck as a skate park feature. Hell, it’s not even the first experience this particular Tesla Cybertruck has had with damage.
A closer look at the hoodline of the brutish EV reveals an Instagram sticker that reads “jellybeanbrainss.” In one of her earlier videos, Jelly Bean Brainss takes a bat to the Cybertruck, beating dents into its wide, flat passenger-side doors. This Cybertruck has had a hard life.
