Tesla recently updated the Model S and Model X. The two were already significantly spendier than the wildly popular Model Y SUV. But that didn’t stop Tesla from the biggest updates for the luxury duo: a $5,000 bump in prices across the lineup.

The Tesla Model S and X get minor updates and a major increase in prices

The Model Y got a much-needed update inside and out this year. Before that, the electric car maker refreshed the Model 3. And now, finally, the Model S and Model X are getting a reconditioning. Well, sort of.

You won’t find a Cybertruck-esque light bar on the Model S or a radical redesign on the Model X. Instead, Tesla imbued its most luxurious sedan and SUV with subtle tweaks. For starters, the two EVs are riding on a redesigned suspension setup with new bushings. Additionally, Tesla put more focus on creating a serene environment in the two EVs with better sound-deadening and active noise-cancelling technology.

On the outside, the duo doesn’t get much of a tweaking. However, Model S Plaid gets a slightly updated look and a new Frost Blue paint color. The most functional improvement, however, is the base Model S managing an extra eight miles of single-charge range. That makes the entry-level, dual-motor Model S the “longest range Tesla yet.”

Interestingly enough, the most substantial change for the Model S and Model X is the pricing structure. Tesla raised the price of the Model S and Model X at every trim level by around $5,000. The price of the entry-level 410-mile Model S All-Wheel Drive rises to $84,990, while the tri-motor, 1,020-horsepower Model S Plaid rises to near as makes no difference $100,000.

As for the Model X, the dual-motor Model X All-Wheel Drive trim gains $5,000 of wallet weight to $89,990. The Model X Plaid is the most expensive EV in the lineup at $104,990, outspending the tri-motor Cyberbeast by around $5,000.
