The Tesla Cybertruck is facing another recall for 2024. However, this time, the polarizing Tesla truck may lose its power during operation due to a faulty inverter.

A recent Tesla Cybertruck recall names a faulty inverter in over 2,000 of the brand’s electric pickup trucks

In the sixth recall of the year for the controversial EV pickup truck, Tesla Cybertruck owners may have to get faulty inverters replaced. The recall, which only affects around 2,400 Cybertrucks, may lead to power loss while driving.

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), the recall states that the faulty inverter may create a “loss of drive power.” Unfortunately, the power loss could “increase the risk of a crash.” Further, the NHTSA released details on the recall for owners to reference.

  • The recall cites a problem with a drive inverter aboard the Tesla Cybertruck.
  • Tesla’s fix involves a replacement of the inverter on 2,431 Cybertrucks.
  • It’s the latest recall for the controversial EV model in 2024, following a camera issue.
  • Tesla will fix the issue free of charge after mailing out notification letters in January 2025.

Tesla hasn’t said anything about the state of the drive motors in the models in question. However, the loss of power to the wheels could be a serious safety concern for drivers and passengers.

Don’t expect an over-the-air software fix for this malady

While many Tesla updates are over-the-air applications, this latest recall suggests that owners will require a physical replacement of their inverter. As a result, owners will have to visit a service center to handle the fix named in the latest Tesla Cybertruck recall.

Still, the recall names just 2,431 vehicles. On the other hand, the September recall for the EV truck’s rearview camera issue named 27,185 units. However, the camera issue remedy was a simple over-the-air update, unlike the latest recall for the inverter faults.
