Police recently arrested a man after a chase, during which the suspect threw a “large amount of cash” from his moving vehicle. The police later arrested the driver on suspicion of money laundering.

The pursuit began when officers from Lancashire Police’s Road Crime Team attempted to stop a black Skoda Kodiaq on the M58 in the United Kingdom. According to reports, at around 11 a.m. on Tuesday, when the officers attempted the traffic stop, the driver of the Kodiaq failed to stop.

The pursuit left the motorway, and the suspect then drove onto a residential road at a high rate of speed.

“Whilst following the car, the driver threw a large amount of cash from the window, then took a last-minute exit at Junction 3 at high speed,” LancsLive reported Lancashire Police stated on Facebook.

“After officers requested the driver to stop, this was not followed, and a pursuit ensued. The pursuit ended on Rainford Road in the Ormskirk area, and the driver, a 49-year-old man from Liverpool, was arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving, failing to stop, and money laundering.

“Subsequent searches recovered large amounts of cash and items believed to be of high value. He has since been bailed whilst our enquiries continue.”

What the heck is a Skoda Kodiaq?

Since most of our audience is from the United States, our readers may have the same question the author had when he saw this report. What exactly is a Skoda Kodiaq?

According to the company’s website, Skoda’s “story began in 1895.”

Skoda Works is company is a Czech automobile manufacturer that was originally an arms manufacturer. Skoda Auto started out manufacturing bicycles. They began manufacturing automobiles around 1905.

The Skoda Kodiaq is a mid-size crossover SUV. It’s been around since 2016. Today, it comes in four models, including the Sportline, the RS, and the iV – a plug-in hybrid.

Police did not report which version the alleged money launderer was driving when he tossed cash out of the window.
