The Lexus LX is a full-size luxury SUV model produced and sold by the Lexus luxury vehicle division of Toyota. Within the Lexus vehicle catalog’s SUV lineup, the LX is the largest and most expensive option. It is sized and priced above the Lexus RX midsize luxury SUV and the Lexus GX full-size luxury SUV.

The Lexus LX (Luxury Crossover/Luxury Four-Wheel-Drive) was first released in 1995 and functions as the luxury counterpart to the Toyota Land Cruiser. The LX was developed to capitalize on the growing trend of U.S. driver interest in large SUVs and in response to the threat of U.S. trade sanctions on luxury cars (but not SUVs). While an agreement was reached to avoid the tariffs, the LX remained a popular choice.

Recently, the Lexus LX debuted its fourth-generation redesign with the 2022 model year. It’s the new upscale counterpart to the new Land Cruiser model that won’t be coming to America. However, the new LX will reach U.S. shores and will face competition from the BMW X7, the Jeep Wagoneer and Grand Wagoneer, the Land Rover Range Rover, and the Mercedes-Benz GLS.

Pros: The Lexus LX full-size luxury SUV provides premium off-roading performance, a very comfortable and upscale interior, and plenty of cabin space and cargo capacity.
Cons: While great off-road, the LX feels stiff driving for on-road driving. Additionally, it has a high entry-level price and is very fuel inefficient.
