Texas SUV driver flips into ditch then leaves wife and kids behind

Police officers in Houston, Texas are baffled as to why a father left his family behind after an SUV crash. His kids and wife were taken to the hospital due to severe injuries.

It all started as a Ford Expedition was speeding down Yale Street, near W. Tidwell Road. A Chevrolet Avalanche made an illegal right turn into a gas station, cutting off the Expedition.

According to ABC 13, the Expedition was traveling 100 mph in a 45 mph zone. Any type of correction or contact would end in disaster due to the high rate of speed. As a result of the collision, the Expedition flipped into a ditch. The oldest child in the SUV was ejected.

Then the driver or father of the year, got out of the Expedition and took off on foot. He had another car pick him up, leaving his family behind. His wife and four children were transported to a local hospital for severe injuries, but they’re non-life threatening.

The driver of the Avalanche stayed at the scene and has been cooperating with investigators. Witnesses and the Chevy driver saw Expedition passengers fly through the air and immediately sprang into action to help.

Then, the Expedition driver climbed over his blood-covered kids to take off as others dropped what they were doing to save them. If you have any information related to the crash or SUV driver, please contact the Houston Police Department.
