Jenna Tomlin hasn’t had her pickup for months since a Toledo garbage truck slammed into it. The 2006 Ford F-150 was parked on the street when the mechanical arm scraped the side of it, leaving it totaled.
According to ABC 13, the wreck occurred in April along the 300 block of Austin Street, near Lagrange. Tomlin’s son was inside the cab during the crash, then ran inside screaming.
The incident was captured on her Ring security camera. Plus, Republic Services took pictures of the damage. They’ve been in contact with Tomlin.
However, the two parties have failed to reach an agreement. The F-150 was appraised for $16,000. But the city only offered her $3,100. Also, the company only covered the cost of a rental car for a few weeks.
When the company towed her F-150 away, they broke a water main line under her house. She had to go to her sister’s house to shower and get clean drinking water.
So Tomlin has filed an 87-page lawsuit against the City of Toledo Road Commissions, Republic Services, and the claims adjuster. She’s seeking $3 million in restitution and damages for gross negligence, bad faith claim handling, and emotional distress.
She doesn’t have another means of transportation. Tomlin shared she can’t take her kids to the doctor. Plus, she needed her truck for her lawn care business.
