The Subaru Forester gets a considerable price bump for 2026, but not at every level
Another year, another price hike. It’s the same old auto industry song and tune, and the Subaru Forester is no different.
At most, the price of the popular Subaru compact crossover SUV rises over $2,000 from the previous model. However, the swollen sticker price impacts just one of the Forester’s trims. The rest get a price bump so small, you might not even notice.
Most Subaru Foresters get an inconsequential price bump, while the Wilderness jumps by thousands for 2026
The Subaru Forester Wilderness wants you to get lost. That’s why it rides on wider, taller tires and produces more torque lower in the rev range than its siblings.
That, and improved break-over, approach, and departure angles practically beg to skip the tarmac and head, well, into the wilderness. But those Forester fans with maximum adventure on their minds will have to pay for it in 2026.
For 2026, the Subaru Forester Wilderness wears a starting sticker price of $39,835. It’s a $2,130 hike over the previous Wilderness. But the juice doesn’t come sans squeeze. The new model rides on a different platform than the rest of the Forester lineup for 2026, in addition to the taller, wider rubber.
However, if you don’t need the extra I-can-climb-that demeanor of the Wilderness trim, the rest of the lineup gets a comparably imperceptible price bump. For starters, the base trim comes in at $31,445 before options, a mere $30 rise over the 2025 model.
As for the rest of the lineup, the price tags rise at a similar rate. For the price increase of a fairly typical entree, you can climb into any of the Forester’s other trims.
