Alright, my beloved true crime nerds, this one is for you. The Slender Man attacker, who stabbed a classmate 19 times, briefly escaped a group home. She was located at an Illinois truck stop, 165 miles away from her group home. I had to figure out how she got so far away.

Slender Man stabber found at Illinois Truck Stop

If you like video games and true crime, you’ve probably heard of the Slender Man stabbing. Morgan Geyser and another classmate led another sixth grader into the woods and stabbed her 19 times.

This was to please Slender Man, a popular video game character. Fast forward roughly 10 years, and 23-year-old Geyser was living in a Wisconsin group home. She was required to wear an ankle monitor bracelet, which she cut off.

Then she went missing until she turned up a few days later, slapping on the sidewalk at a truck stop with a man identified as 43-year-old Chad Mecca. So, did they hitchhike? Why weren’t they staying in a getaway vehicle?

Well, according to the Posen Police Department, the pair met in church, and Geyser shared how bad the conditions were. He started climbing into her window at the group home to plan their escape. The man actually wasn’t allowed to visit her, though.

They took a bus to the truck stop and were trying to get to Nashville, Tennessee. According to ABC News, when police officers approached, the pair gave them fake names. Geyser got frustrated and told the cops to Google her real name.

Then the pair was apprehended. Geyser will be extradited back to Wisconsin. Mecca faces charges for criminal trespassing and obstructing justice.
