You would expect most of the crime in Las Vegas to happen around the Strip. However, police officers responded to a Target store around 7 PM after receiving reports of shoplifting.
The incident occurred at the Target location at 4100 Blue Diamond Road. Reportedly, a loss prevention employee saw a group of women hiding items in bags. He called the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department to report the theft.
As officers arrived, one woman left the group to put items in a white SUV. The others pretended to pay for items at a self-checkout kiosk.
According to Fox 5 Vegas, one officer tried to stop a suspect identified as 35-year-old Keneshia Dixon as she exited the store. She ran to her car and jumped in while ignoring commands to stop.
Then the officer got lodged in the vehicle with his legs hanging out of the door. A witness shared that the woman was punching the officer and drove off, reaching speeds between 30 and 50 mph.
Other police officers spotted his legs in the moving vehicle. Next, they performed a PIT maneuver with their cars to stop the suspect. Four women now face charges. Also, the officer and Dixon were taken to a local hospital with minor injuries.
They recovered over 20 pieces of stolen baby clothing. Dixon was charged with second-degree kidnapping, burglary of a business, resisting a public officer with a dangerous weapon, battery on a protected person, and escape by a felony prisoner.
