Does Anyone Regret Buying a Honda CR-V?
While most people buy the Toyota RAV4, the Honda CR-V is still widely popular. It’s just not the best-selling SUV in America. This Japanese model is the second favorite among drivers. But does anyone regret picking the second place option?
What are common Honda CR-V complaints?
In 2025, the Toyota RAV4 sold 479,288 SUVs. Meanwhile, the Honda CR-V sold 403,768. It’s not too far behind in second place as a popular option for drivers. But do drivers who go for the CR-V have any regrets?
According to CarComplaints, the most recent model year with the most reported problems is from 2017. A few of the biggest 2027 CR-V problems are related to the engine.
Drivers share that they smell gas inside the cabin. This is related to gas getting mixed in with the oil. This can provide inadequate engine lubrication and lead to bigger problems. Some people have paid to have excess gas removed from the oil.
Plus, faulty fuel injectors caused SUVs to suddenly lose power, shake while accelerating, and get stuck in limp mode. Some people had the same fuel injectors replaced multiple times. But a recall should have addressed this issue.
Flash forward to 2024, and you’ll find a CR-V with much fewer reports of trouble. However, this model year has racked up the most complaints in the past five years.
The most common issue is related to electrical system problems. Drivers claim that they received error messages for the safety systems. But then local dealerships failed to diagnose the cause.
Others mentioned that the rear camera view failed, and the parking sensors wouldn’t work. Some noted AWD and power steering assist issues. But the steering problems were corrected by a recall.
So, a select few people may regret buying a Honda CR-V. It has a low amount of issues that are reported that seem not to carryover to newer models.
