Oh no, a woman’s relationship with her Ram 1500 is off to a rough start. Reportedly, the alternator is finally fixed after having some setbacks. But after waiting six weeks, she’s ready to get her truck and hopes it works this time.

2025 Ram 1500 alternator problems

TikTok user @half.finished.home isn’t having the best experience with her 2025 Ram 1500. She has been waiting six weeks for Stellantis technicians to replace her alternator.

The dealership called to say that the alternator they put on the truck was faulty. It was missing some sort of plug. They reordered the part and explained that it wasn’t going to fall out.

Finally, it’s time to pick it up. As she turns the key in the ignition, she hopes the weird squeaking noises are gone. It came to life with an attractive purr, and she noticed that they filled her tank up with gas, too.

She got excited to drive away, thinking that the third time trying to get this problem fixed would be the charm. However, the next morning, things didn’t sound right. There is a clear ticking noise.

Reportedly, she avoids filling the tank because she never knows when her Ram truck will need to sit at the dealership for weeks.

I’ve reached out to half.finished.home to see if she returned to the dealership to try a fourth time.

Does the Ram 1500 have an alternator problem?

There isn’t a widespread or officially confirmed alternator problem for the 2025 Ram 1500. However, some trucks need replacements due to inconsistent patterns.

The problem seems to be more of an electrical issue that drains the battery. A faulty alternator could cause that type of parasitic drain. Some drivers have had the alternator and batteries replaced without solving the problem.

Some theories suggest that the truck has wiring problems or perhaps the new Hurricane engine has a cooling system issue.

Folks in the comment section suggest that the truck has been improperly diagnosed. A few online mechanics think that the problem could be related to a defective cylinder head or the cam lifters.
