Just in case you didn’t know, the Toyota RAV4 has been the most popular model for years. It’s the best-selling SUV in America. So you would expect it to be the dominating used Toyota vehicle. However, the SUV is tied with a Toyota truck. 

The RAV4 ties with a Toyota truck as the most popular used option 

As the Toyota RAV4 outsells all of its rivals and one American truck, the Ram 1500, by thousands of units. However, it doesn’t control the used Toyota market with nearly as much dominance. 

The most popular Toyota truck, the Toyota Tacoma, also has a massive presence among used cars. Plus, it’s by far the best-selling new mid-size truck. 

Both of these models are tied as the most popular used Toyota cars. Both the Tacoma and RAV4 account for 1.5% of the used vehicle market in 2025. 

According to iSeeCars, the most popular used vehicles are the Ford F-150 at 2.8% and the Chevrolet Silverado at 2.5%. So both models still have work to do. The Toyota Tundra failed to earn a spot on the list of most popular used vehicles for 2025. 

Used RAV4 SUVs dropped to eleventh place in 2025. This model was in ninth place in 2024. Also, the Tacoma dropped from sixth place in 20214 to tenth place 2025. Could this mean that the tide is starting to turn? 

Probably not, as both models ended 2025 with record-breaking sales of new models. The Tacoma will likely keep its momentum going. However, this year, RAV4 models are only available with hybrid powertrains. The numbers will be interesting to watch.
