There are many people in the market for the best used cars. However, not all vehicles are created equally, and some have notable problems, especially with the transmission. Of course, these are expensive issues for auto mechanics to fix, so proper research before buying a used car is necessary. Luckily, one popular car expert recently used social media to warn buyers about three used cars with bottom-of-the-barrel reputations for their transmissions. Of course, some of them use a continuously variable transmission.

Many auto mechanics will agree that the Ford Focus has transmission problems

Recently, Off-Roadmaster took to his TikTok account to post about the cars with the worst transmission problems. The first on his list is the Ford Focus. Specifically, he says the models from 2012-2017 are notorious for having serious issues. He says they experience slipping, jerking, and even sudden acceleration.

The Nissan Maxima also made the list

People often consider the Nissan Maxima one of the best used cars. However, it’s not perfect, and Off-Roadmaster says it also suffers from severe transmission problems. Notably, he says the models from 2006 to 2010 are the worst. Of course, they use the continuously variable transmission, which many drivers and auto mechanics hate. TikToker also points out that these use a sealed for-life transmission.

Kia has some of the best used cars for people on a budget. However, the Kia Forte isn’t perfect, and this TikToker says the current generation, which started in 2019, has some notable transmission problems. He says they experience delayed shifts, leaks, gear catching, etc.

Of course, these are the opinions of one person, as there are several people who own these cars and have never had issues.
