Most people know that attempting to evade a traffic stop is one of the worst things a driver can do. However, this happened recently in New York after a man robbed a Dollar General and tried to get away. Additionally, he was already wanted for a string of robberies before leading police on a chase. Of course, he’s facing several charges.

Not only did he evade a traffic stop, but he committed a string of thefts

There are many reasons why a person could be pulled over for a traffic stop. Sometimes, they happen as a result of a road infraction. However, they can also be caused by more severe reasons. According to The Centre Daily Times, employees at a Dollar General in New York reached out to the police to report a robbery. Notably, they were robbed at gunpoint.

About 15 minutes passed, and the police found the suspect’s vehicle in a church parking lot. They later identified him as Brian Baritot, 40. Of course, this led them to try to make a traffic stop, but he sped away before they could catch up. There aren’t many details about the chase, but the report says it ended in a crash. However, what we do know is that he displayed unruly behavior after the crash, and the police had to deploy a taser. Of course, the police then arrested the man.

The police also searched the car after making the traffic stop and putting him in handcuffs. This uncovered a knife in the center console, which it is believed he used to rob the Dollar General. It has also come to light that he was wanted for his association with robberies at other Dollar General locations and banks in New York and Pennsylvania. He has felony charges for robbery, fleeing, and terroristic threats. He also has four misdemeanors. Notably, he was denied bail and has an upcoming hearing on December 4th.
