The idea of a high-speed chase sounds exciting because of their depictions in film. However, they actually cause quite a bit of issues for law enforcement and people in their vicinity. Recently, one woman in North Dakota caused one after trying to evade a traffic stop. She may have also been driving under the influence. Now, she has multiple felonies.

Evading a traffic stop is never the right course of action

According to Valley News Live, police officers in Barnes County, North Dakota, received a call on January 8th about a reckless driver heading east on Interstate 94. Apparently, the person behind the wheel had been making a habit of swerving from lane to lane and brake-checking other drivers. This made many believe they were driving under the influence. Once on the scene, the police tried to pull them over for a traffic stop, but they were unable to get them to comply.

Sadly, this caused a high-speed police chase as they tried to make the traffic stop. The chase lasted for a while, and the officers then used a spike strip to get the person to pull over. Naturally, this deflated some of the tires, but the driver kept going. They terminated the pursuit after a while to maintain public safety. Officers later spotted the same vehicle, and they were able to arrest the 23-year-old woman who had evaded them.

Following the traffic stop, they took her to the Cass County Jail. She’s now facing charges, including felony reckless endangerment, felony fleeing a police officer, misdemeanor DUI or drugs, and charges for possessing THC. Luckily, no one sustained injuries from the high-speed chase.
