Florida police officers quickly responded to two wrecks on Interstate 95 in For Lauderdale as two vehicles hit a motorcycle rider and fled the scene. The incident occurred in the early morning hours near Sunrise Boulevard.
First, a suspect identified as 40-year-old Matthew James Golfin rear-ended a man on a BMW motorcycle with a 2018 Chevrolet Suburban. He was knocked off the bike and the Suburban didn’t stop.
Then the second suspect, identified as 60-year-old Jeffery Scott Adler hit the motorcyclist with his 2016 Porsche Boxer. Adler pulled over and the witness shared that he hit someone.
According to Local 10, the witness said that they weren’t safe on the side of the road and suggested moving over. She pulled forward but Adler fled the scene.
Also, a second motorcyclist couldn’t slow down or avoid the man. She struck him then flew off her bike and broke her legs.
A license plate reader identified the vehicles involved and the Suburban was stolen. However, a woman who was riding in the Suburban called the police and shared Golfin’s location. He had been drinking as she was scared.
Police found Alder at his home with the damaged Porsche. He said he thought he hit debris. Unfortunately, the motorcycle rider didn’t survive the incident. Both men have been charged with leaving the scene of a crash involving a death and tampering with physical evidence.
