Police find CBP agent drunk in illegally parked car

Police officers in Minnesota noticed an illegally parked car in a no-parking zone on a St Paul road. So, they decided to take a closer look. The incident occurred around 3:30 AM.

As they approached the vehicle, they noticed that the driver was slumped over behind the wheel. He was unconscious. Officers reported that the suspect, identified as 31-year-old Alfredo Mancillas Jr, a United States Customs and Border Protection (CBP) employee.

Reports share that he  smelled of alcohol, and had bloodshot eyes. According to The Guardian, he failed a field sobriety test. Upon refusing a breath test, he was arrested. The Texas man faces charges for third and fourth-degree driving while intoxicated (DWI).

A spokesperson of the United States Department of Homeland Security shares that the agency’s professional responsibility office is reviewing Mancilla’s DWI arrest.

The spokesperson shares, “CBP stresses honor and integrity in every aspect of our mission. The overwhelming majority of CBP employees and officers perform their duties with honor and distinction, working tirelessly every day to keep our country safe.”

It’s unclear if Mancillas was still working in the area at the time. However, the resident of Corpus Christi, Texas, will remain in the area a bit longer. He is waiting for a tentatively given court date on March 24.
