Mahindra Unveils the World’s First Formula E Themed Special Edition SUV
If you have never heard of Mahindra & Mahindra (M&M) automobiles, don’t worry, you’re not alone. However, if you are a follower of the FIA Formula E Championship or FIM Grand Prix motorcycle racing, then you may know a little bit about the company.
The company was established 80 years ago. So they’re not new. M&M is one of the largest SUV manufacturers in India by production volume. One of their subsidiaries, Mahindra Tractors, is the world’s largest tractor manufacturer by volume.
Mahindra Racing has competed in Formula E since 2014 and is one of the series’s ten founding teams. Among the drivers who have driven for the team are Felix Rosenqvist and Nyck De Vries.
The First Formula E Themed SUV in the World
On Wednesday, Mahindra announced the launch of the BE 6 Formula E Special Edition SUV. As the only Indian team to win in Formula E, the new SUV will feature Formula E badging and decals, uniquely placed on the front quarter panels, “Mahindra Formula E” branding on the windshield, and FIA branding on the seat belts. In addition, it comes with race-inspired graphics, a race-car-inspired start/stop button flap, and a Formula E-inspired custom startup animation.
“Our customers conveyed a compelling message, the BE 6 doesn’t just look futuristic, but it also evokes the sensation of being in a racing cockpit once they step inside,” said R Velusamy, President – Automotive Business, Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. “They love that it screams electric, unapologetically.
“We built the Formula E Edition by listening to that energy. Racing is no longer a niche in India; it’s becoming a lifestyle statement. With this edition, we’ve channelled that cultural shift into a machine that celebrates electric performance the Mahindra way – bold, emotional, and proudly made in India.”
